Hanjiang River Research Base, officially approved by Hubei Provincial Department of Education,  is a substantive research institutions co-built by HJNU.

It has been more than 30 years since its predecessor "Hanjiang River Institute"  founded in August,2003, with broader research field and more achievements coming out. Now it has enrolled a total number of 93, including 20 professors, 28 assistant professors,45 lecturers; 4 Ph.Ds, 44 masters.

 Now it consisted of five centers:  Hanjiang River History&Culture Research Center, Hanjiang River Economy&Tourism Development Research Center,  Hydrology and Ecology of Hanjiang River Research Center, Hanjiang River Literature&Arts Research Center, Wudang Culture Center.
