According to the official website of Hubei Provincial Department of Education, the candidates and disciplines of “2017 Chutian Scholar Program” were published. Education Discipline of HJNU is on the list and approved to have the post of chair professor.

Chen Jun, a leader of HJNU said, it’s the first key project for discipline construction after upgrading to undergraduate university. It’s a great breakthrough.

In HJNU, distinctive advantages and characteristics have been formed in many aspects: the practice of training primary, secondary and kindergarten teachers, the reform and assessment of basic education courses, and the study of mental health of primary school student education. What’s more, the Education Discipline has built up an excellent teaching team, a comprehensive curriculum system, provincial research base and training center, as well as two state-level shared fine courses.

Conducted by the Education and Finance Department of Hubei Provincial Government, “Chutian Scholar Program”, a significant provincial quality program for universities and colleges, aims at attracting, selecting a batch of academic leading scholars and building up international and national advanced disciplines, so as to improve universities and colleges’ competence to serve the development of economy and society. “Chutian Scholars” are usually employed as specially- appointed professors, chair professors or “Chutian” academics. According to the documents, the duty of chair professors includes giving cutting-edge courses, instructions for young teachers and students, advice for research directions and focuses, as well as building up high-qualified research teams and organising international exchanges and communications to achieve worldwide academic influence and reputation.
